THE NORTH EAST HOSTED EUROPES 'YOUTH ENGINEERING SHOW' AT RAINTON MEADOWS ARENA

Thousands of youngsters from the region witnessed the world's most advanced humanoid robot 'ASIMO,' a man versus machine face-off and the Army's hardiest vehicle. The event was a massive success, attracting thousands of students.

The event held in the North East for the first time, was a 'slick'85 minute event featuring presentations from the Regions car manufactures, interviews, demonstations and video about the 'World of Engineering. 

There is little doubt the high light of the show was 'ASIMO' he was there to inspire the next generation of engineers. The robot is the culmination of more than two decades of robotics. 'ASIMO' incorporates several significant technological advances.

This opportunity provided for around 7000 (11-14 year old) students to experience first hand the necessity and importance of modern day life in the engineering world and to appreciate the range of career options that are available in this wide ranging field
